§ 1-4.5-3. Library board of trustees—Appointed.

A library board of trustees shall be appointed by the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners. The number of trustees shall be set at nine (9). The length of terms for members of the board of trustees shall be three (3) years and vacancies shall be filled by the board of commissioners for the balance of the vacated office. The board of trustees may receive compensation or allowance as from time to time approved by the board of commissioners. Membership on the board of trustees shall be as follows: one (1) member from each county commissioner electoral district and four (4) at large members. In order to establish staggered terms for members of the board of trustees, the initial terms of the members of the board of trustees shall be as follows: District 1, District 3 and one (1) at large member—3 years; District 2, District 4 and one (1) at large member—2 years; and, District 5 and two (2) at large members—1 year.
